Thanks man. Any little bit you can help is cool. I get the 1 2 3 stuff for the most part, but on tabs like this:

http://www.guitarmasta.net/r/rolling_…

I get the intro and I’ve gotten that down. But the part that comes after it, where it says “x4″… I don’t get what that’s trying to say. Do you get it?

x4 probably means play that riff four times. Make sure the song is on your level and not to hard or confusing

What riff though? What do the 2’s mean? Second finger? Second fret? Second finger on second fret?

x4 Means for beats… On the part of the song you are trying to learn you supposed to strum backwards.

Yeah that one is probably too hard for me. So can either of you suggest any good acoustic songs that are pretty easy?

Also, in the chords Dsus2 and Asus2, what does the “sus” mean? Sorry for all the questions, I am hopelessly lost.

Good song to learn how to speed up your playing is Aerials by System of the Down. It’s also easy.

look, these are the strings of the guitar ‘e’ beingg the thinest string and ‘E’ being the thickest string. the lines after the letters are the strings
e——————
b——————
g——————
d——————
a——————
E——————

The numbers are the frets look how it says b4 that means b string (the second string) 4th fret
e——————
b—4————–
g——————
d——————
a——————
E——————

Now it says b4, g3, E8 this mean to play b-string (2nd string 4th fret) then g-string 3rd fret, and then E-string (6th string)
e——————
b—-4————–
g——-3———–
d——————
a——————
E———–8——-
Hope this helps

K I get that part. So this means play the 2nd frets of the A and D strings together then? Four times?

Yes thats exactly what it means. Play the notes on the a and d string together four times and the ‘0′ mean ‘open string’ so you dont have to put youre hands on any frets ‘0′ means just play the string

So play all the strings? Or just those two? I’m slow, bear with me.

Yeah, you can shout me anytime, I’ll see if I can help…

Yeah, you strum all the strings at the same time as you old down the 4 and 5 string on the 2nd fret.

Okay cool, thanks man :). So basically, that’s an Em chord… It would have been so much easier if they just put that lmao -.-.

Raff… the problem with n00bs is that they don’t take the time to bother doing a google for “how to read guitar tabs” which would have hit them with dozens of tutorial sites that would have walked them through all of that, and more.

Did you know, that the only difference between a novice and a n00b is the ability to RTFM? n00bs expect everything to be handed to them by people who “know the answer”. Novices don’t ask questions until they can’t find answers on their own.

Pro’s don’t really give a sh*t.

I am none of the above. But honestly, do yourself a favor and just try, just once, to google the answer (be sure to stick tutorial in there somewhere), you might just be surprised at how self-reliant you can be!

Cheers,

Does anyone know how to read guitar tabs and would be willing to help an absolute n00b out?

I’m trying to figure out some of these songs, but some of the tabs are confusing. Anyone who can help even a little bit will be very much appreciated :).
