make sure they stay clean, its probably best to do it in the morning in the middle of the day and at night so as not to overirritate them by touching them constantly, use cotton buds in hot water, lay off the cream-theres probably an infection, my kittens used to get them

Beadryl?
Isn’t that a cough medicine for humans?

If the vet has no clue then your onlu option is to wait it out and see what happens, if it gets any worse then take him back to the vet but it is most likely a bite from something or he has got something in the eye, if he has something in there then it should come out on it’s own.
Keep it clean as best you can without prodding and pokeing it too much.

Hehe yes, benadryl is allergy med. for humans, but the vet told me it was safe to give him, so I went with it. I’m going to go clean his eyes out again (haven’t done it since this morning) and see if it helps anymore.

Hmm. If a veterinarian, a trained professional who has had the opportunity to examine your dog, cannot tell you what’s wrong then I am drawing a blank.

Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone out there had anything else to input. =) Which, by the way, you did. I have two dogs, and the younger one is still being potty trained. SO, I went out and bought a new carpet freshener the other day, and I never even thought about it until now.

So thank you guys! I’ll go get rid of the carpet freshener and wash his eyes. Hopefully it helps him!! You people are so awesome. =D

Yeah, it said 5% baking soda for every 10 cups (30 cups total). That’s interesting, I’ve never heard of that! Is it like a normal allergic reaction kind of thing?

Make sure you wash your hands after cleaning the dog’s eyes. If it is an infection you could possibly catch it. I got a really bad conjunctivitis from my cat once.

It is safe to give your dog a Benedryl, My dog has skin allergies and he gets one every day. I hope your poor pooch gets better soon!

NO not normal, I am super allergic to baking soda. I get different reactions depending on what it’s in.
~With deodorant, I get a huge rash so bad that I can’t put my arms down for a week.

~With toothpaste, I had BIG blisters throughout my whole mouth and my lips.

~With carpet fresh, I have a hard time breathing, my legs get itchy, and my eyes hurt. I have to RUN to the shower and stay there for ten minutes. Windows and doors have to be opened, and floors vacuumed about 4 times before I can get out from under the water.

~I can’t clean with it either, bc my hands will crack and bleed. I didn’t realise what the link was until the carpet fresh thing.

When my dog got allergy spots, the vet asked about her food, her bed, any new flooring, new puppy shampoo, new treats and new puppy toys. She said it was very likely to be an allergy, but wasn’t sure what it was a reaction to.

Whatever it is, I hope that your dog feels better soon.

That’s horrible! I use baking soda in a lot of things, and never even thought anything of it. But the carpet fresh is the first I’ve used on the floors and stuff. I’ll be sure to be more careful of that in the future.
His eyes are a lot better this morning, so I think the benadryl and washing his eyes is helping! Thank you guys sooo much. I just HATE it when my animals are miserable and there isn’t much I can do for them…

My dogs eyes are swollen shut and benadryl isn’t helping.

He doesn’t have any bumps or marks, so I don’t think anything bit him. The vet doesn’t know what happened or really anything to do except keep his eyes clean of goop. He’s miserable and I don’t have any clue what to do!! Any ideas??
