Annoyance help: I can’t seem to learn from my mistakes. - Help.com

I can’t seem to learn from my mistakes.

I think I have some sort of memory complex. I can remember even the slightrest details of events and conversations, but why the heck when I’ve done the same mistake over and over again, I never seem to remember and just repeat it? I’m getting sick of being disappointed in myself, I’m sick of letting other people down, and I’m sure they’re sick of it too.

How on Earth do I fix this and stop torturing people with my stupidity?

I don’t think it is stupidity. You are a smart person. We all go thru the spells where we keep doing the same things wrong. I know I sure did. They way I got over it was when I caught myself starting to do the same old dumb thing I would stop and make myself do it another way. I am still the world’s worst procrastinator. I put off everything. I can’t seem to get over doing that at all, even when I know doing something later will just make it harder.

Dear,
Dont feel bad about these things, everyone has such tendencies.
To overcome these you can:
1. Maintain a daily diary.
2. Day logs.
3. Schedule your days in order to stick to fruitful tasks.
Good Luck !

Do you do any drugs, like weed, or take prescriptions that may be affecting your memory?

Nope, no drugs. I barely even like to take paracetemol for my arthritis pain. Last pill I took was a herbal sleeping aid.

Mainly it’s a habit I can’t just break with simple reminders or routines. Basically, it’s compulsive sleeping. I tend to have a wild sleeping pattern where I stay up for hours and hours on end, and then literally crash at my keyboard. It’s the only way I *can* get to sleep. But the problem is it worries/annoys people when this happens. I just seem to run into the age old ptoblem of feeling guilty if I need to tell people I’m tired.
