The army is for those who have a stong dedication to their country, those who need discipline and those who feel their life isn’t going anywhere.
If you are one of those people, then by all means join. There is a certain heroic aspect to it that I myself find appealing. What country do you live in? That would greatly influence my opinion.
I would say NO, unless you are willing to give up your life for your country.
At this point in US wartime, it would be unwise to enlist. You would merely be sent to some God forsaken location, maybe even somewhere dangerous, where you would live like a rat until you had to patrol and risk getting blown up. Not very glamorous.
No you should not join the army. You shouldn’t want to contribute to the killing of innocent people in the name of religion or in the name of power or for any other stupid reason. If you could see what war does to people, howhaving to kill another human being will affect you, you wouldn’t want to volunteerto live that kind of life.
i believe in my country and i think that it would be a cool thing to do but a few of my friends say that it would be a bad idea
Pros
You believe in your country and want to protect it.
It would be cool.
Cons
Your friends think it’s a bad idea.
Obviously the list could be a mile long for both pros and cons, but as far as you’re concerned this is it. Joining the army is a major step. You’ve said that you’d think it was cool but what about it makes it cool? Equally joining the army could help to secure yourself a better future. Why do your friends think it’s a bad idea, but then why does it matter what they think? What do you think?
i honestly think you shouldn’t. Just the fact you’re asking shows youre uncertain and that means you shouldn’t. You can do other things besides joining an army and dying young and leaving your family grieving.
I think you are, or maybe you’re an agnostic. I’ve replied to at least one of your other posts. The military in the United States, against all decency, common sense, and law, discriminates against non-Christians. Expect to catch hell for not participating in prayer/services. Also, if you were to die, they’d probably give you a Christian funeral service, put a cross on your grave. If that sort of thing doesn’t bother you, and you think you can take all the crap for being a nonbeliever (become friends with a group of atheists as fast as you can, that’s one thing I can think of), then you can go for it. However, I’d really like you to join the National Guard. They respond to natural disasters and domestic threats as much as foreign threats. If this country starts splitting apart at the seams (as it might, if these culture wars keep going), you’ll be needed to help defend the Constitution and preserve the nation.
All depends on what you want to do man, Im almost there with getting in (taken the ASVAB and done my physical just waiting on a waiver) and im doing for the job experience thats related to what im doing, im going in to be a 25B IT Specialist, college money, especially in this ****** economy where jobs are starting to get harder and harder to find, yeah **** you might get sent to some foriegn place but its money the government is giving you and the bonuses also, think of another thing, you can get a sense of freedom and independence, plus you get that bonus money, Travel around places in the world, not just the middle east either (dependent on if you go enlisted(full time) or reserves(part Time)) So there is lots of things, just check out some videos on the army website and on youtube and stuff, take the ASVAB and see what jobs you qualify for and decide from there if you want enlisted or reserves. Just think it over man, make a list of pros and cons of both things
I’m currently awaiting my call to goto basic training and right now it’s the best thing i can do to better myself, of course i have doubts.. i think we all do.. we have loved ones and people we’d be afraid to leave for a long time but it’s your choice.. if YOU think it’s a good idea yourself and know the pros / cons of joining the army and you know the risks.. there is room for skepticism, but we all have it.
me personally i think it’s what i need to better myself and help better the lives of the family members and friends i live with down here.. i have friends who don’t think it’s a “good” idea due to join the army due to they just don’t want you to leave them.. Personally i think you need to just take a day to yourself… a personal day and think about it.. think about the consequences and other things that could happen if you do ship off/join the army.. then surf the web with others having questions such as this and make the decision yourself.. don’t let web bloggers make it for you.
And to the athiest: you’re turning your atheism into a religion. Either you believe in a higher power or you don’t.. i dont like putting names into not believing in something as such “god”. i’m not going to Bash christianity and/or how i’m buried. I’m dead.. then we’ll see if there is and/or isnt a higher power.. why worry about a Cross on your grave.
