Drunk Parents.

2 years ago my dad got drunk, but not drunk enough to pass out. so when that happened, he abused my mom. she got help from my aunt, and we lived with her for a little while. a little later, my dad came back into the picture. (i didn’t find out until later that my mom kept coming back for him so he could help pay the bills) well my mom set a rule that nobody could drink ever again. my dad started going to AA. he abused her a year later when he was drunk, and came back a month later. (bills again) she promised me it would never happen again. in the last month or two, i figured out my dad gets drunk all the time, but so drunk that he passes out instead of abusing my mom. my mom started getting drunk whenever he got drunk (I didn’t find this out til 3 weeks ago). then tonight they are both drunk, dad is currently passed out on the couch. then my mom tells me that i can no longer contact my aunt until they are both on good terms(they got in a fight). i cant turn to anyone. im so confused and betrayed. and ironically enough, my mom is a drug abuse guidance counciler. (WTF?!?!) our whole family is falling apart, i can’t even talk to my grandparents bc my mom needed bail money and had to borrow it from them(which she did not pay back). what the hell do i do?? (im 14 btw:P)
(HE ABUSED HER ENOUGH THAT SHE ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL)

Sounds like a lot to go through when you’re only 14. I would say that you talk to your mom when she is sober and not around your dad and tell her how you feel and that you don’t feel comfortable being around them when they are under the influence..doesn’t sound like they are setting a very good example. I’m sry to hear that you’re going through all this.

Get drunk? No… How exactly did your dad abuse your mom? Obviously not bad enough that she ran away. Just far enough away to get money… So now everybody is drunk and what in the world should I do? Why not bust mommy and daddy? I think not. You are the only sane person in the house. Accept that responsibility and keep your family together. Become the leader because they need one and your best bet is to live with mom and dad… not the courts or big brother.

Okay now she’s in the hospital… where are all the cops when you really want one? Sounds like you have it in for dad but he’s the only one with money. Can’t put him in jail now, can you? Survive is all any of us do. You are closest to the situation YOU DECIDE.

I’m 13 and I’m going through a similar situation. except my brother is the one being abused. he’s only 10. apparently my dad favors me more? I don’t know. there’s a book called “Lush” it’s a story about a girl with the same probllem but worse. I’m so sorry she ended up in the hospital. the worse my dad ever did was when my brother had a cast on, he was getting angry that he wasn’t taking a shower and kicked him and it took two weeks longer to heal. I can’t stand listening to my dad hurting my brother. sometimes I wish that when my dad passes out he never wakes up again. but then I think about all the nice times I HAD with him and I really can’t handle never seeing him again. it’s so hard being stuck in this kind of thing. nobody knows (I think) about this too
