I Know More Than You Do

People are such know-it-alls — myself included. The truly smart people recognize that they know very little.

Here’s a little bit I just wrote to a friend in an email — I went off on a rant, and I thought I’d share it here, too:

Maybe people are afraid of me — afraid I will know something, have better answers, and thereby deflate their enormous egos (I just was turned down for a job without even being invited for an interview - the job is located in my hometown… which is a small town; There is absolutely no chance that I was not the best candidate or at the very least among the best candidates for the job; That they didn’t invite me for an interview is an indication that they are afraid that I know more then they do — and they don’t want that). Our society creates systems in which people are taught to be dumb — and most of all subservient. It is a culture that was created by those huge companies that are going bankrupt left and right. But the people making the decisions are living in a world that was suited to the way the world was a decade (or more) ago. These “command and control” structures are inefficient and will not be able to compete in a world that is flat and wide open to competition from small and nimble competitors from India, Pakistan, Poland and scores of other countries that have billions of people who are far more eager to perform rather than simply being willing to submit — and they will. And the CEOs in the conservative rich world who write themselves big checks will not be put in jail - but the societies they live in will be ruined… and the ordinary people who happen to live in these sick societies will just have to deal with MISERABLE FAILURE.

(made some slight changes - like spelling, etc.)

And BTW: the PROVOCATIVE title is supposed to acknowledge that EVERYONE knows more than other people do — which doesn’t necessarily mean they know more than other people about EVERYTHING. People who aspire to be know-it-alls — I think they have some kind of mental problem.

So I think I recognize my own problem — and I hope that I will never actually behave like some domineering know-it-all. Maybe sometimes I will become SICK with a fever, but that doesn’t mean I am a bad person — instead: I want other people to help me as much as I want to help other people.

Ha ha - I hope you are kidding, if not:

There is a little thing called “EMOTIONAL MATURITY” that they (The potential employer)may have sensed you very clearly lack.

Hence you are unemployed.

I don’t think yo lack emotional maturity … your rant does show little understanding of the job market, and by understanding I think I mean perspective … because you probably do understand that some employers are only interested in the employee who is the ‘lowest maintenance’ who will do what their told without thinking or asking a lot of questions … someone simple, malleable, a drone … and these people are usually pride filled half-wits who will violently defend their way … the tao of simple Simon … our last president proves that money does not equal intellect or intelligence for that matter (and yes there is a difference between acquired knowledge and ones ability to acquire and retain knowledge) that money is power and that capitalism and democracy are at odds with eachother …

If you believe that society are thought to be dumb - then why are you trying to get a job? - Just Over Broke - Why do you want to work for 40 yrs / 40 hrs-week and retires with 20% of your best income. Why are you planing on scarifying your time and energy for something that you don’t own, it will never make you financial independent and you can loose in a split of second. Corporate America system is broke….
