bankruptcy help: My parents are both 64 and facing possibly be kicked out into the streets. - Help.com

My parents are both 64 and facing possibly be kicked out into the streets.

My father in the stages of Diabetes where he’s in risk of losing a foot, my mother has a hurt back and my father recently had head trauma to where the injury has made him start having a hard time with his memory. Because of these things, my father’s had a hard time keeping a job and they’re losing their home in a month. They’re so far in debt they need bankruptcy as well. Social Security pays so little that they barely have enough to get by and I’m desperately trying to find information on how to help them.

I’m trying to find a way to move them closer to me but I live in a small apartment myself. With them being forced out in a month, I’m trying to find any sort of government assistance for seniors that perhaps provide housing or something to that degree here in the Colorado/Wyoming area. They’re in Minnesota currently.

Sorry for the ramble but I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Thank you so much,

Brandon

That is a place that might be able to help them. If they need to file bankruptcy, do it right now. Once it is filed, if they have a mortgage and are not renters, they cannot be evicted and bill collectors and the like have to quit contacting them. You will be given a case number and you give that to anyone that calls and the mortgage company.
