I’m 18 years old.
For the past 15 years i lived in a single parent home with my father and this last march he passed away-cause was cancer. My mother left us when i was 4, and now i am 18 and have no family and almost have no money. I’m full time in school. i received a pell grant and a loan from the gov. to pay for school, and when my dad passed away i had a small amount of money. I pay my own rent-450, plus utilities-200, Car insurance-150, phone bills-150, medicine-70, and other expenses like gas and food. Usually costing around 1,000 all together. I hardly have any time to work because of school, so now i’m left feeling like there’s no one to help me, and that i’m not going to be able to pay rent or support myself anymore. I went to DHS and they said the only thing i qualify for is food stamps/ If i had kids i would recieve more benifits, but i def don’t have children. I’ve been searching and searching for programs or for anything possible that can help me, but i fee. helpless…anyone??
