The “Palanquin Bearers” is a poem about a bride who is just married and is going to her husband’s house. She is sitting in a “palanquin” and travelling. 4 men (called palanqquin bearers) are carrying her. Throughout the journey, the palanquin bearers sing and talk about bride’s beauty. Many similes are used for this.

This is the jest of the poem.
