I work out and lose no weight but my mom takes pills and looks great.

It’s dicouraging and annoying! She does nothing to work out, but instead she cheats by taking pills to make herself instantly skinny while I’m over here working my butt off gaining 3 pounds of muscle trying to get out of my 214 pound skin, but have only gotten down to 209 pounds in 6 months. She said her legs were sore just from WALKING on the beach!! I’m so bitter about this right now cause I’m trying so hard and getting nowhere and I feel like she’s just cheating.

Not funny in any way. My friend just lost his mom to cancer.

Well for a start walking does burn more fat(not calories) than running because it doesn’t need as much energy, so it dips into your stored energy(fat). And if they work for her why not use it? or get one of them surgeries

Walking burns more calories than running. But not just any kind of walking; speed walking. You need to walk fast enough that it would be easier for you body to run. In this way you force your body to tighten more so than running and you must fully work your legs and arms to keep up the speed.

normal walking or strolling is not better than running.

Only a good diet with adequate training can make you lose weight, anything else is just a quick fix then the problems come back again.
each body has a different metabolism and reacts differently to food, for example carbs may make a person gain weight whereas it can have little effects on another, same goes for exercise, one type of training can be helpful for a person and totally useless for another.
if you are serious about losing weight check with a dietitian and a certified trainer and most importantly abide by what they say and be patient.
