Bacon fat…

Is there any use for bacon grease… the grease that is left over after you cook bacon?

Lol, no thanks… I was thinking or wondering more along the lines of using it for grease in cooking other things but maybe that will just make everything taste like bacon grease…

Out in the forest it`s great to use for cookng other things. At home it`s better to get rid of it. Just dont pour it in the sink.

I use it in cooking other things. Instead of using lard or butter. Yes it is very fating. But it also tastes so good!

A healthier way to use bacon fat is to buy certified organic bacon, render the fat in a small bit of cold-press olive oil and store in a glass jar with a tightly fitted lid.

2-4 teaspoons of olive oil, per
1 lb of bacon

Cook slowly in a skillet, until cooked through. Drain meat on a clean towel, serve. Carefully pour oil into a jar, refrigerate.

Use the organic bacon fat and olive oil mix for browning meats and veggies, particularly in hearty stews and soups, also for frying eggs, potatoes, and seafood. A little adds a lot of flavor, one or two tablespoons, or less, is usually enough. If your recipe calls for more fat try adding cold-pressed grapeseed or olive oils, they are good for you and taste wonderful!
