broken help: I have a 98 chevy blazer. - Help.com

I have a 98 chevy blazer.

I need to know how to take out the back seats. Can someone help? Or send me a link that shows instruction? The reason for doing this is one of them no longer folds down. And i am almost positive it is because there is something jammed in there. I can see a piece of metal trash(actually is a AAA Battery) stuck between two metal frames of the seat. But it is to deep in a crease to get to it. So i figure the only way to get to it is by taking out the seat. Also i tried repeatedly to use force an just bust the battery between the mechanism, but that was a no go. That is why taking out the seat is my next option.

Are you looking for information on uploading an avatar or why you aren’t recieving notices on tags you’re subscribed too?

Unfortunately both of these features have been disabled until further notice. Looks like you’ll have to stick with your “letter of the alphabet” avatar. You can also Contact us with any other issues you have.

First of all, busting the battery is idotic. inside a battery is *GASP*… battery ACID. Go figure. Acid hurts things, like car seats and carpet, and, OH NO, humans.

Second, the seat should be bolted onto the car frame, so you would need a wrench or socket wrench that fits the knuts on the bolts and take them off. I’ll make it easy, lefty loosy righty tighty. Then, once that is done, the seats should lift straight up off the bolts, and you can remove the battery. Repeat instructions backwards to replace the seat.

I appologize J. I was having a bad day. Thats no excuse but, sorry. I should have said…

Don’t bust the battery, it can damage your upholstery. The frame that the sat is on should be bolted to the floor of the vehicle like this…

Use a wrench to unbolt the seat and lift it off, then you should be able to remove the battery. If the battery is wedged inside the frame of the seat, rather than between the seat and floor, you may have to further disassemble the frame, which I don’t recomend. It can be quite difficult to put it back together correctly if you don’t know how. If that is the case, I suggest taking the seat to a professional, or maybe just someone you know who is good with tools.
