I have a Y adapter audio cable.

I use it so that I can plug in my keyboard and my laptop or some other audio source at the same time, and listen to them both through my headphones. Its for practice purposes (I play keys). Why is it that some devices ‘override’ the volume of my keyboard. In other words, the audio source is much louder than the keyboard. The volume on the keyboard is at max, and the volume on the audio source is normal. I have to turn the audio source WAAAAY down just to hear the keyboard, and that’s no good because then I can’t hear the music I need to play.

Any help or suggestions?

The y connector does not separate the devices and allowing the two devices to fight with each other.
You need to use some kind of mixer to get them the same.
