Eye contact is important in all face-to-face conversations in almost all modern cultures. From interviewers to romantic situations to conflicting persons, well-used eye contact is essential to strong communication in these different situations. With the age old saying “Eyes are the window to the soal” this idea of the importance of eyes is not new.
What are the feelings that come up when you look in someone’s eyes? Do you look away fast? Get nervious? Start perspeating? Do you feel fear or comfurt? Do you feel alpha or beta? Eye contact is in the relm of nonveble cummunacation, with the likes of bodylanguage and facial experstions. Eyes cummunacate unconscious and conscious thoughts. Think of when you are talking to someone and say that you ask them a question. Did the person that you are talking to look upward to the left of right? This shows what side of the brain that person is thinking about the question with. Aslo the tendency of people to look down when lieing or ahamed. Keep in mind that these movments of the eyes and with in contex, these movments can mean other things in other contacts as in looking down can mean that the person is attracted to you or looking up could mean that they were distracted by something in the sky. Do you see now that eyes show much more then most people know about other people.
Bissness people know these tihnigs, Sales persons know these skills because they show power and make people more likely to give in to the prodect that they do not need.
