This was written while sitting in the sun at Starbucks on a lazy afternoon with a friend.
People Watching
Calm and casual,
a soft smile behind my dark glasses,
A little laugh in the background,
as someone strolls by.
Non-judgmental,
but judging each one,
decide what they do,
read their stone faces,
they avoid eye contact.
So impersonal.
All guarded in small but certain ways.
It’s always the same **** thing,
people watching,
just the days are different.
Sometimes life can be so real,
and other times so surreal.
Opposite ends of the spectrum,
colliding with the same rhyming sensation.
The world is rolling around,
spinning like a sphere on my finger.
I bet some are just dizzy.
Don’t take offense,
to my secret smirk.
Don’t take offense,
that I see you and laugh.
Don’t take offense,
that I’m in your space.
Don’t take offense,
that I just walk away.
Be offended that you get what you ask for.
Be careful what you ask for.
Hmmm….
Calm and casual again.
Smiling again.
Behind my dark glasses..

this is very very smooth, my dark shaded friend…I do the same thing too…it’s sooo cool to be able to pretend to be looking away, yet looking directly AT the people…sometimes I believe that they sense it…but this work is just….cooooool….:o) edie
Thanks Edie.. it’s not anything new I just thought I would add it here..
It is gooood though, B…And what really made me smile is that I could identify with those feelings…I have to wear dark glasses all the time…and sometimes people are sort of put off by that…I get a little touchy about it when I hear “Do you HAVE eyes back there?” Grrr..and then the feelings that you wrote up there surface…That is why I think that this is so right on time and very cool…ahhh yesss…be careful what you ask for…I may just tell one of them that not only do I HAVE eyes, but they are most definitely trained on them right NOW…and keep staring in their direction…eww…kinda twilight zonish, huh? :o)
Was it a zone where the guy took the big black glasses off and had huge bug eyes? Because he was an alien of course…hehehe…Ya never know…..LOL…
If you are an alien sweetie, you’re welcome in my world anytime, lol..
Sometimes, I feel like quite the alien, B..
And if I am, I sure hope that it’s from the area of the Sea of Tranquility…
Got a boat that could cruise THAT, B??? :o)
Sure.. if not I’ll get one, lol..
Yanno, B…if anyone else had said that, I’d never believe them…
But since it was you, I’ll be waiting for you and the 50 footer with sails aloft…heading out to cruise the cosmos…checking out the “other” aliens in the dark glasses…hehehe…See ya on the Sea of Tranq, B…
I like to sit in cafes, write and observe human activity. I don’t wear dark shades though. But maybe I should so I could sit quietly. People tend to want to talk to me. Such an open book, I am…
I believe I need more protection: Dark shades and a huge hat. And while I’m at it, why not add really excentric clothing? LOL That should help keep my space clear!
Naaa…. I’m an open book with all the good sides and disadvantages that come with it. Can’t really change that! :)
[:-) Cute!! LOL
Thanks for reminding me that being ME is a good thing, JJ! You’re so sweet!
And I really needed to hear that right now so your timing is perfect!
Have a great day, my friend.
:)
o lol.
i took that poem as a jab at someone. it’s very callous.
Don’t take offense,
that I see you and laugh.
Don’t take offense,
that I’m in your space.
Don’t take offense,
that I just walk away.
Be offended that you get what you ask for.
Be careful what you ask for.
ouch.

It is a “jab” but not at anyone in particular. It’s me being me as I watch the ones that think they are something stroll by. Each of us are no more or less than those we pass in our day, our life, or our dreams. It’s their self-important attitude that pulls them away form real life and fulfilling interactions with the rest of us that isolate them from the world and us..
Sorry if that came out self serving but it was meant to be just that in a softer version..
Night,
‘b’
aha, i see now.
self-serving, i wouldn’t so. it just seems like a honest expression of your opinions and feelings. Alright, goodnight to you also, B.
