of course it makes a sound, how big does humanities ego have to be to raise that sort of question? :P unless you are all into quantum theory and Schrodingers cat and all that kind of stuff, in which case you have much more to worry about than falling trees.

I’m surprised no one says that it does not. I’m not sure what I think. People will argue that sound is only made if there is something to receive it (your ear) but then we do admit that there is high frequency sounds around us (the like of which dogs can hear and not us) when we may not hear them so…
