UK QUESTION

My dad got a pulled over by a police officer yesterday and it was a routine check.
The database was coming up that he had no insurance, he does and has the documents to prove it.
To cut a long story short my dad has to show up at any police station with his documents within the next 7 days. The only problem is;

1. My dad has lost his V5C document and MOT document in a recent flood.
2. The company that he got to MOT his car has gone broke and can’t help.
3. My dad has been to a garage and they can’t find his records on the database.

What should my dad do?

panic? oooooooor, go to the insurance company, they should have some documents, also the MOT company may have gone broke and will have bigger things to worry about but if you’re nice enough they should have a reciept somewhere, although there’s no guarantee it’ll have your dad’s name on it. other than that, maybe find some sort of other proof of ownership, like a service bill or parts or something, and then be VERY nice to the police..
