Have you seen a psychiatrist?
If not, I highly recommend it.
There is no shame in it,
I see one myself.

Anyone know of anything that can cheer me up?

You can look around here and see if there are any posts you could “help” with — that made me laugh and smile a few times recently, and people even said things like “you’re smart, you’re witty and nice” — odd, I thought I was in almost a coma of unending pain, but I’ll accept that alternative persona ascription for a while as it’s so hilarious. Oh, and taking a walk out in the nice spring air can cheer you up. That’s the number one thing for depression — move around, and spring is the opposite of depression in intself, even if April is the cruelest month. That’s all my ideas, have a nice day. Oh… and the borderline thing is an interesting diagnosis because it seems vaguer than most others, lumping all sorts of people with a wide range of psychic conditions together, but that might just be my relatively uninformed impression.

Have you checked out effects of BPD from different sources, e.g. over the internet. Sometimes knowledge is power.
Although please don’t immediately hook onto the worst effects you find and remember that BPD can effect people in a whole lot of individual ways as everyone is an individual. You may also find scenarios where its effects on people can be very minor. Sometimes people can get carried away with signs and symptoms quoted and exagerate their own to fit these. BPD doesn’t have to be the end of the world.
Try to face the depression head on and rule it instead of letting it rule you until you are able to see things in a more positive way or break through. Hang on in there and keep sharing.
Wishing you all the very best x

Alice, Alice, Alice, they have given you another diagnosis? Are you seeing a new doctor? I am worried because you have been given different diagnosis and meds and nothing seems to be working for you.

Have you had a time when you were med free and see how your brain works on its own? How do they know what is and what is not a side effect from meds?

Did they tell you how and why they have given you that diagnosis?

I was just looking at some symptoms of Borderline Personality. Have you read the symptoms to see if it fits how you feel?

I am sorry, I am not cheering you up. I’m just grilling you with questions.

Yup, another diagnosis! They said the reason I am being diagnosed with this is because of my frequent threats of suicide and my impulsivity.

Are they putting you on any different medication? What are you currently taking?

My son is on an allergy /asthma medicine that has him so moody and angry that I am taking him off it.

Today I have been looking up info on his medication and have been shocked at how many parents are reporting the exact symptoms my son is having. AND when I called the doctor office, the nurse said it is not a common side effect.

So your meds may not be a problem, I am just in side effect mode the last few days. That is why I am asking.

How are you feeling today?

Puck You!
Please ALWAYS remember this………. You are NOT, I repeat NOT the sum of your diagnoses!
You are an individual and there are reasons you do what you do and say what you say and ARE what you ARE and IT DOESNT DEPEND ON YOUR DIAGNOSIS!!!!! You are a human being first!
Do not let different diagnosis define who you are! Because they CAN’T!!!
I have been diagnosed with bipolar over 23 years ago and there have been times that I KNOW I could have done better if I hadn’t let myself stigmatize myself!
REMEMBER to ALWAYS look at yourself as an individual FIRST!

When was the last time anyone was diagnosed as A GREAT PERSON?

You are you and you are GREAT!!!
The diagnosis is enough to make you think you are worse off than you really are. Michael Leibman has great advice……. get outside…… run jump scream hula hoop just get exercise and let nature do it’s thing and help you get whatever out that pushes you down.

Puck You, I don’t know how old you are but regardless, I was on Cymbalta for a while and I must tell you……….. once you start this medication you must be VERY careful if you ever come off of it. It must be under a drs care and NEVER just stop it…………. you have to be weaned off of it.

Personally I really think meds are way over prescribed. However I AM NOT a Dr. but I DO speak from experience.

This post is a great step in the right direction! Talking and getting informed as much as you can is imperative to your good health. I am NOT saying meds are bad, but they can be dangerous. Talk to your Drs about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other forms of “help”.

I wish you the best my friend and my ear is always here. Shout me anytime……Shakey

Well it sucks to have any bad news on health. I am sorry that you have to go through this. There are some possitive thigs that you can do to improve your health and happiness. First off is educate yourself on the dissorder and if you will be or have been on meds learn all you can to get the most out of it. Talk to your doctor about any fears or problems you may have. We are here for you, and we care about you. As Shakey and Michael have said, exersize and being outdoors can brighten your mood. I will check back laer, I must get back to work (((((((HUGS)))))))))

I realize that psychology and psychiatry are valid professions, but I swear sometimes I think the proper diagnosis is CTD, aka Clueless Therapist Disorder.

We all have our weeknesses and we all have to keep working at improving ourselves using all the means available to us. Don’t let yourself get depressed over one individual’s diagnosis. Try different things to make yourself feel better.

We are all works in progress. And things always get better as long as we believe in positive outcomes.

Are you on any medication to help keep your other personality(s) at bay? I think the best thing you can do is accept yourself along with all the little tweeks. Look at it this way, you know for a fact something is wrong with you. I personaly think that its better to know whats wrong then be sitting around feeling like something is wrong with you but perfesionals say there is nothing wrong with you, witch would make you feel like there is something wrong with you as a person. Since you know what is wrong you can fix it, and be on the road to recovery faster then someone who feels like there is somthing wrong but cant figure out what it is.

You’ll be okay, just except it and dont let it hold you back.

I really hope you can feel better and get the borderline personality under control. I dont think you should feel that bad that you have it, it alone already can mess with your emotions so i dont think its best to concentrate on that. I think I myself might have some sort of personality disorder although not borderline(yet i do have a few small similarities) I know you can be alright. =]

I agree with that. there is a book that has a way of diagnosing people as to having different disorders. however sometimes people dont always stick by it, or check it to see if what they believe is correct. Because thay have dealt with problems alot perhaps they dont always feel like they need to look anymore, which is a bad idea. cos it is people’s lives that they are deling with.

I think that there are alot more people with problems than we think. people are ashamed of having a problem so they try to hide it. Don’t worry, i think that everyone has there own problem/s.Im no professional but Im sure my gran has OCD. and sometimes I’m sure I’ve had turretism(not turrets). You dont need to worry about the way you are. there is no such thing as normal anyway. no one is perfect

hey, dont be depressed! i know what its like to be suddenly diagnosed with something. i have scoliosis. yes, it isnt like i will die but if my condition worsens, i will need operation and every operation has its risk, esp the spine. i heard of someone who died in that operation. right now, its causing some problems in my life ,esp since im a dancer. i can actually feel the curve in my spine when i stretch and bend. occasionally , it causes discomfort and even pain.
my sister , was diagnosed with sleep disorder last year and last year was a important exam year. but she never let it get to her and she did well on the exams.
my father, diagnosed with 2 sleeping disorders and recently caught a serios viral infection thing. and he is still cheerful.

be optimistic kay? its not like you dont get to live anymore. theres so much in life to enjoy and appreciate. CHEER UP!!!!!!!

Some people have said this, but I’ll try saying it again - Don’t trust paper!!! Words arenothing. What matters is how you feel. We all feel a little down sometimes. Heck, life’s always a bumpy ride. I’d suggest finding a hobby of some kind - a game, a collection, whatever suits you. Something you’d enjoy doing. Something to let you forget all those annoying things that make life suck. And, hopefully, you will forget them and stop caring! I hope that helped.
