BATMAN help: for everyone that saw The Dark Knight. - Help.com

for everyone that saw The Dark Knight.

There is an online petition being signed saying that there should not be another batman movie with the joker in it to honor heath ledger’s performance… i personally think that Johnny Depp should play the Riddler in the next batman movie. what do you guys think?

The joker is one of the greatest villans in the DC universe if not THE greatest,

He has to be in another one of the movies…

Absolutely not. The Joker has been a great character and should continue to be in future films.

Absolutely. But as you mentioned and I’m sure everyone would agree that another Batman movie with the Joker involved will only taint the outstanding performance of Heath Ledger.

well then they just shouldn’t make anymore if the joker isn’t going to be in any more of them cuz they ended it like he would be in more of them
but i think johnny depp would prolly play a great riddler

yea… the dark knight was kind of set up for a follow up movie… but i don’t think they could use christian bale and all the other actors, with a replacement joker. it just wouldn’t be the same. the would need an all knew cast. but if they used a new villian… they could continue the christian bale batman.

Why? Because he is dead now?

He did a great job, but why should that mean that the character is eliminated from the films? If anything, I think that would be more like slapping his soul in the face. I would imagine he would have wanted the character to continue.

ugh… i hate when people assume that the only reason heath’s performance as the joker is liked, is because he is dead. NO! he just did a good job.

Only because someone would have to challenge his performance and would undoubtedly fail on every account. Ordinarily in the filming business, when you have a principal role played exquisitely by a prominent actor or actress, then the director would rather carry have that same person star in the sequel. It’s called a predetermined profit for their film.

exactly which is why someone else deserves a chance to play the joker aswell who knows maybe the next guy that plays the character could do just as good if not better than heath

No role is performed perfectly, who’s to say that should someone else take up the role they wouldn’t perform it better?

Well you’re entitled to your opinion. I don’t worship the guy or his performance soley on his immediate followed death. Heath Ledger was the epitome of the Joker we all had embedded in our minds over years of studying and following the legacy of Batman.

Now if I were to choose a horrible movie that should be reformed from beginning to end, then it would definitely be Max Payne. The lead role by Wahlberg was pathetically played with no appeal in my opinion. The entire plot degenerated as soon as the valkyrie bs was introduced.

And for the record, I’m an idealist when most movies or books are being analyzed. So when I proclaim that a character or narrator is untouchable in their work, then I am righteously unyeilding.

when posting all of these rumors, no one seems to think of Christopher Nolan. If he wants to do the movie, and is ready, he’ll do it. I’d be shocked if he picked Johnny Depp, because he almost always picks someone that’s unexpected, and shows potential (Heath, remember back, it caused outrage when he was cast at first.) If he wants to do the movie, he will. He’s working on another project with DiCaprio right now, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Personally, I think they should make another movie. To respect Heath, they released the Dark Knight, and showed it to the public- his best performance out of his entire career. Isn’t that respect enough? Bale and the other actors are signed on for 3, as well.

Did you read the post? It says all Depp said was that he would like to play the Riddler on a radio show.

I think it would be wise to include the Joker in any upcoming events because of the epic performance by Heath Ledger. The character instilled in anyone’s mind who watched the film Dark Knight is one, as far as I’ve heard, to be unanimously awe inspiring. Why lose the Joker when you could add a new perspective? Sure there is a possibility that someone will make a terrible rendition. But I doubt Chris Nolan would allow that happen to Heath Ledger’s masterfully created character. Let someone else give their all, and then make your opinion.

yes he WAS ALREADY famous. but gets more attention for being dead for example marilyn monroe and the lead kurt cobain. people focus on the dead too much.
