If you don’t have a problem with lying then become a lawyer, journalist or politician. If money isn’t critical then do an MA in library science and become a mild-mannered librarian. If you like the great outdoors then become a park ranger. If you like animals try volunteering at a zoo, doing a general biology degree and working there fulltime. If photography is your thing, do an arts degree and work weddings - but the work is hard and you’ll earn next to nothing.

Become a photographer for national geographic. It’s exciting and it’s the same thing everyday just with a new twist from time to time. And you could expand on your reading and writing through a career like this as well too. So major in Photography and minor in journalism. That’s my opinion at least.

Majors are something that you pretty much need to decide for yourself, they can do alot to influence your long-term career future.

Luckily, most colleges don’t require you to declare a major until your sophomore, or even junior year.

My advice: find a college that accepts undeclared majors and offers most of the things you’re interested then, plus a wide variety of others. Chances are, you’ll be able to figure out what you want to do as you go through college, maybe even something you’ve never thought of before. And even then, you can usually change your major later, or even declare a double-major if you really want to.

Whoa, slow down. If you’re still in high school, you really don’t have to sweat over the major thing just yet. I’m halfway through college and I still haven’t declared a major. You will have options to take a variety of classes to help you decide, as well as the opportunity to take intensive career tests that are very useful. I have about a million interests including music, anthropology, creative writing and economics. Sometimes those can be combined. I’m deciding on economics because it can be applied to almost any business anywhere. You also have the option of being an “undeclared major” for a year or so if you’re still lost.

Ask your counselor if he or she has any interest tests or wait til you get into college and it’s pretty much guaranteed that your adviser will be able to help.
