America, How do you live there these days?
Basically, I want to move to America. I love little old england, I really do. But I’m tired and need a change. I want to move to the big U.S.A.
Never been though… should probably go on a holiday first I know… I’ll look into it.
But how do you do these things?? I know you have to get a work permit.
Or get married to someone over there? Though Im a poor writer at the moment, weddings are expenisve.
Any ideas?
Or any ideas on where to live/visit?
Thanks!!!

America is basically the ghetto version of England.
definatly come to idaho it is the greatest!
haha idaho?
Not that I can really say anything…I like in Kentucky…
which is really a great state if you don’t mind the accents/crazy wheather…It was like, 75 degrees outside today, and its supposed to snow on Tuesday..:( not happy.
America in a nutshell is the ghetto version of England.
I like the fact England has different versions out there
F*** the states. Canada is where its at. We love the Brits and we have free health care. BC has amazing sights not to mention the ganja…
Yeah… I’ve considered Canada actually. You guys have a London aswell!
Go to New England! BOSTON! I’m living in Mass right now, and grew up in Connecticut.
But considering that the US is in the S hitter right now, you should wait until we get a little better. If you don’t have a great job/ money right now, its going to be a little hard.
Whats it like in England? Does it really rain alot? And do you walk everywhere?
~just curious
England.. Well we all drink tea and it’s law to wear a top hat.
no not really.
Erm, I guess Its good. I like it here, the music scene is great, the fashion is good. Walking.. Yeah come to think of it there is alot of walking. Though I wouldnt say to excess, I guess were a small island so we dont need to use public transport as much.
And rain? Well Im from Manchester so, yeah, it rains alot. But, it makes you apreciate the summer we have every 5 to 6 years.
All in all, England is lovely… just want a change.
And pluto… Yeah your probably right. though I dont care to much about money. I wouldnt mind being poor in America, it might be better than being poor in England.
Yeah you probably dont want to move to London Ontario Canada….not the same kind of London at all.
Well I live in California and only been to two other states or three if you count Vegas :). So far my home state is my favorite followed closely by Hawaii.
You can always live here illegally. hehe j/k
My mom got her citizenship here pretty easily.
She doesn’t even speak english (or so she say’s) but Im not really sure of the process, sorry.
Ha ha, I have seriousley considered doing the whol illegal thing.. What fun!
but then, you guys carry guns and stuff. Our police force carry umbrellas.
Someone came into my work from California today!
the other lovely thing about Canada: ALL 4 SEASONS! You get a change every 2 months or so. But it is all the extremes. Extreme cold. Extreme Hot. and all the in betweens.

A lot of my friends go skiing up there…
Random question: do most canadians speak french? ~inform the ignorant american teenager. :)
Umm I wouldnt say most, no. Mostly just the quebecois (the people from quebec) and even some of those people dont speak french. They do teach it in elementary school (i dont remember much) and all our food labels and such must be in french and english.
Some Canadians do, but I would say more don’t.

lots of fun… not really though it would be tough finding work.
If you don’t like guns then stay away from Texas! :)
but Cali is a cool place to visit. Hot all year around with some rain, rarely though.
You have the beach to surf, desert to off road, and Mountains to snow board.
:) Oh and the Terminator is our Governor.
Yah, we Californians are everywhere! hehe.
If you want to live in a place where 1 in 3 people have guns, then go ahead.
“Oh and the Terminator is our Governor.”
Are you trying to keep him away or persuade him to come? :)
Ha ha I was almost persuaded to come based off that statement!
lol definatley coming, the terminator! What a legend!
Gah….
Just giving him all the facts. hehe
You should see those California commercials he comes out in. Trying to convince people to visit us.
He say’s “You’ll be back.”
lol! I love those.
ha ha see we have nothing like that! I’ve never seen a come visit england advert… though I doubt they would show them in england..
I think I’ll probably just go on holiday, then marry someone. It’s the easiest way.

You bet we have guns, myself I can shoot a wing off a fly at a 100 yards, so people are not a problem.
If you want anything and everything then go to any place in America the world is here in one country, cant say it any better. Hope this helps :-)
I know absolutely nothing about moving here since ive always lived in the USA. I do have to tell you though that each state can be very different from one another as far as people goes and scenery and what there is to do.
Main places in the USA though is in New York, California, Colorado, Nevada, Florida, Washington DC, Louisiana
Ive lived in Colorado for 8 years now and I dont really like it much because im not into skiing or snowboarding or motocross
California is pretty ghetto in some areas
Washington DC, is mostly tourists and homeless people it seems to me
Just in case in return, how would i move to the UK just in case i felt like it later? =)
Before you seriously consider moving over here -legally or otherwise - do a good bit of learning about our current economic crisis. We are literally in a Depression. We’ve got the highest unemployment rate we’ve had in over 20 years, the news seems to report one massive lay-off after another almost daily and thousands of us (myself included) are losing our homes to foreclosure.
Hey, this is my country and I love it. My father was a U.S. soldier and fought under the USA flag in two wars; my ancestors fought for the USA flag. I will always love the USA.
But we’re not in the best of shape right now. There are a *few* states that aren’t suffering, but not too many. Heck, even Las Vegas, Nevada - gambling capital of the U.S. - is suffering.

Thank you Aries. That makes alot of sense.
The ecenomic situation is bad over here to, I agree that moving at such a time is not a good idea; though I hope that the ecenomic crisis will pick up within the next ten years.
I think I may try a holiday first anyway. My father moved over to the states two years ago (washington state), but I’ve not yet had the chance to visit him.
Thank you very much for your advice. :-)
Hyannis Mass (Cape Cod)
Very nice place to live, I lived there for a few years.Nice scenery, plenty to do.
If my curcumstances were differant I would have stayed there longer.
I live in florida now, it’s ok-too many bugs though, egh, hate bugs.
Best places to visit, definately the national parks, you could fly into Vegas, rent a car and go to the Grand canyon, Bryce and Arches, easily…as for living, the west coast is the place to be, Portland, although it rains alot is very beautiful temperate climate…LA is full of too many weirdo’s try San Diego… Chicago is AWSOME, our lake is like the ocean only it doesn’t smell funny….great food and theatre…you can come on visitors or student visa, the easiest way to go being that you are a brit….and take odd jobs on the side, if you have friends that have friends here they should be able to hook you up….worse comes to worse, you could do day larbor, meet in the morning in front of almost any home depot…however, it really helps if you speak spanish….
Come to see the horse races! Go to Kentucky! If you come in winter, you can see the UK wildcats, which are pracitically worshipped, even though they’ve been having some bad seasons. If you come to Kentucky, and want to start a fight, tell someone you like Georga States team.
