i need help with chemistry.

i have a big test this wednesday and i can’t figure out some of the easiest formulas and everything. i have forgotten most of the stuff that we did during the first semester, like how to dilute molar concentrations, and my teacher is rather confusing so i have a bit of trouble learning from him and the book isn’t much help either. can anyone please explain the pH and pOH scales and formulas? i desperately need help. thanks

The PH scale is how acidic and alkaline something is. 0 is neutral. Below 7 is acidic, above is alkaline. That’s about all I know though. Sorry.

yeah i know the basics of the pH scale. what i meant was how to find the [H+] and [OH-] when you are given the pH. the formula is something like pH=-log[H+] and [H+]=10^-pH and [H+]*[OH-]= 1*10^-14. im so confused with this because my teacher doesn’t really explain things in depth.

ok for example lets say the question asks for how much water is needed to dilute NH4 to .18 mols if u have like 30 ml of H20 and u hav 2.0 m of Nh4, your suppose to do something like divide 2.0 m by the 30 ml which would give you .066 mols and to find how much water you’ll need you must find how much water you’ll need to get that .066 up to a .18

something like that, not too clear i know, hopefully someone can pick up where i left off and correct any mistakes
