Weird computer file issue

My problem is this. A while back I deleted 2 PDF files out of a work computer folder. However, whenever I try to transfer this folder to another computer it still tries to move the files that don’t exists and gives me a “file not found” error.

I have double checked, and these files are not hidden or anything like that. They do not exist, and yet windows still thinks they do.

I might note that if you open the folder, and highlight all of the files in there you can drag those around with no problem but, if you try to move the whole folder it gives that error cannot copy (filename)because it doesn’t exist. Weird huh?

Any Ideas?

I’m sure. They were just PDF files, nothing big. I’ve tried moving the folder several times to several portable locations like various flash drives and portable hard drives. Again, it ONLY happens when I try to move the whole folder and not when I move the individual files.

that’s a good idea….move the files to a different folder and then delete the empty folder….will try that.

Nope, that won’t work. Cannot delete (filename) Cannot find the specified file.

like I said, it thinks the file(s) exist when they don’t, then when it looks for them it sees they aren’t there and gets confused….

it’s a tavle of contents inside the folder…
QB, excel and MS word are just a few that use “instantfinder.logs” or some other type of index to locate files when opened through the normal prog.

err table…

maybe if you deleted just this one file, but it’d actually be better (since it’s work comp) to just hold ctrl key down and click all the files you want, and copy them that way…

PDF files may also contain embedded digital restrictions that provide further controls that limit copying, editing or printing- simple solution I guess would be. create new folder and transfer the files that you need to new folder. this will allow transfer to other cpe. If this a restriction issue. then you can go into safemode log in as adminstrator. then this usually will grant permission to remove hard to remove files due to restrictions. hope this helps but i’ve been wrong before

2 PDF files. Again, the problem is that I deleted them but, the folder seems to think they still exist. I can move all of the files in/out of the folder with no problem, but, when I try to move the whole folder, it says it can’t find those two files, but, that is ebcause I deleted them.

can you undelete them? maybe somehow you deleted them outside the prog you used to make them… and it still insists they are there… and even if you fix that, if a prog. is dependant on a certain folder, it might only let you copy it, might not let you move it around (it’d change dir so prog couldn’t use it…)
