How to tell what I’m allergic to

Hi, I’m going to be 26 in four months and roughly a good year to a year and a half I’ve noticed I’ve developed outdoor allergies (prior to that I’d never been allergic to anything). Before I’d get stuffed up if something was REALLY bad, but now, I’ve noticed along with the stuffiness, I have itchy eyes and sneeze more.

I moved from NW PA to Houston, TX and have finally narrowed it down that I’m allergic to some tree. How do I figure out what specifically I’m allergic to? The Cottonwood always gave me problems and I see that Houston gets those trees, too. But I hear Houston is really bad with Ash trees. Does anyone know if NW PA has a high Ash tree count? Cause I’m not sure and I would like to know what specific tree I’m allergic to.

You go to a doctor, he takes these funny needles and does a test and you find out :D

ask your doctor about the ELISA/ACT test. it is one of the most accurate tests for allergies out there (it is a blood test). it is known for finding hidden allergies.

i found out about it because of a series of anaphylactic reactions i couldnt trace to a source… i was how i found out i was allergic to corn (it tests for outdoor allergies too)…

so check it out

Corn? I didn’t know people could be allergic to corn….

Do you have any idea roughly how much it costs to get that done?

it was expensive. luckily our (my parent’s) insurance covered it or most of it. i’m sure your insurance will help out also, since this is medical.

… i would not recommend the series-of-needle-pricking-test. my and my family’s experience is that they are always inaccurate whether it does not detect what you are allergic to or it detects more than you are actually allergic to.
(i basically came up allergic to everything : corn, milk, eggs , gluten, ragweed, citrus… when it was simply corn.)
