how to tell the counsellor what is wrong?
I really need to speak to one about various issues rather urgently. I’m a fiercely private person and hate to/cannot tell people things about myself.
Based on past experiences, I end up hating the counsellor after the first session because I feel too vulnerable/exposed and so, I don’t ever go back to see him/her again.
I have tried writing things down, printing out a ‘letter’ for the counsellor (which i never give anyway), rehearsing…I can’t seem to tell people about my problems even though i really want and need to. Once I’m in that room, I shut up and can only answer the counsellor’s questions in monosyllables or short phrases. I get the feeling the counsellor ends up getting really frustrated because he/she cannot get anything out of me!
help?
thanks!
