Some costal cartilage could be damaged around the rib. I suggest to get an x-ray to make sure.

if its a pain when she breathes in it could be pluricy. i get that sometimes. its inflammation of the inside layer of the chest wall. when you breathe in oftentimes it causes a sharp pain. it could be caused by a small infection, or is a minor inflammitory thing.

maybe around the lung itself is visceral pluera… which would mean the membrane around the lung could be inflammed, so it could be a infection in the lungs themself. Or if it’s the parietal pluera which incases the thoracic organs then the infection could be the whole thoracic region. Or it may not even be a inflammation. I still suggest an x-ray it may be a lower rib that punctured some intercostal muscle or tissues. ?

may be a subluxated rib (popped out). I get it from time to time and can be quite tender if it keeps popping in and out. Still reccomend getting it checked out by a doctor, most likely its nothing but just to be sure. just realised how late this reply is but hope it helps!
