Firstly, the last few years have been incredible for me. There’s so many people I need to thank.

“It may have come to the attention of some of you, that a rumour is circulating which suggests I am returning to my planet of origin…”

Make sure you finish up with something like;

“And despite what I feel compelled to tell you, I must be honest and say that you and all those you love will soon be disintegrated in my Mothership’s Deathray.”

As you will probably all know by now, I’m leaving the position of ____. It has been a pleasure working with you for the time I have been here, and I believe it’s time to move on.

If you want it to be heartfelt, try starting with a quote of some sort. Quotes are super easy to find online and make every speech just a little bit more special.

What kind of farewell is it? A generic intro could be: “So guys, we’ve come to the end of the road, with plenty of memories suitcased up for the journey ahead…”

It’s not so much the words that count, as it is getting started (always the hardest part)and building enough momentum to wing it on sincerity alone. Earnestness is far more effective than flowery rhetoric. Trust me.

I don’t know if this s too immature, but at a high school graduation I went to a few years back they used a quote from Dr. Seuss’ “Oh The Places We’ll Go”. Like I said before, this is probably coming a little late, but I figured I’d add it for the heck of it. :)
