Any advice on a great book?

I want to start reading one but have no idea where to start. I love fiction that makes me cry, laugh or that i cannot put down. Thanks people.

like Where the Red Fern Grows, The Da Vinci Code, Of Mice and Men, and Illusion:The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah. That last one is really cool, and unusual.

Thomas the tank engine is a good book… That used to be my favorite…

Anyway, I just read a book not too long ago that I liked. Extremely loud and incredibly close Foer by Jonathan Safran. It’s about a kid whos dad died in the 911 attacks and he wanders around new york city trying to find the place that a key he found goes to. I don’t know whether it’s your type of book but I thought it was really funny at parts and really sad at others. It’s a little weird though sometimes, but other than that it’s good.

And if you got caught up in the overratedness of twilight, the host is really good. It’s by the same author, just the plot is ten times better. I was more or less forced into reading it and I don’t regret it

Hope that helps some, and I hope you can somehow solve the never ending dilema of finding another book to read… =)

i have some recommendations:

Amber (ten books serie by roger zelazny, first would be “nine princes in amber” but you could also get it in one big book “the great book of amber” it has all ten inside it. i’ve been reading it the fifth time now… so…)

another classic that is a must and i recommend it even if you dislike sci-fi,
is “Ender’s game” by orson scott card (hope i spelled it right)

don’t know if it fits your taste but, there you go.

get yourself a copy of fear and loathing in las vegas, fantastic book. great place to start too because it’s short, fast paced and fun to read, but then when you’ve read a little more widely you can come back and appreciate it in a different way, and every time you read it you will learn or see something new.

or if you just want to be made to feel educated and miserable (which everyone should feel at least once in their lives i suppose) read 1984, it’s a cliché but it’s a classic for a reason.

once you start reading chuck palanauik’s ( fight club) survivor a novel, and get involved in the story, its hard to put down. Although, the tone is cynical and its a satire, so sum people just might not dig it.

I think the books by ayn rand are good.
The only thing I do not like about her books
is sometime the women main character is kind of slutty.
Otherwise this author writes extremely well
and thinks deep and philosophical.
Go to amazon and check out her reviews for a good book
to start with, maybe “atlas shrugged”.

Saving Fish from Drowning - Amy Tan
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a short read
Anything by Jodi Picoult is usually pretty good too

Hope that helps.
