I Need Help…

.

Hello everybody,

Ugh well its been at least 20 minutes since it happened, but i would like to share it with you people out there and hopefully someone out there can help me find the answer to what is happening to me…
I decided to lay on my bed about 20 minutes ago and just relax.
I had rested my eyes to block the light that was coming inside the room, when suddenly my body felt like if i were locked inside some coma or something. I couldn’t move any part of my body. I realized that i was still awake with my eyes closed and i couldn’t get out of that mental state. I felt that i was running out of breathe and my body had forgotten to breathe correctly, the less i thought about breathing, the more i was able to breathe in somewhat of a normal motion. I heard a drizzling noise the whole entire time (could be because of the fan that was on.) I was freaking out, i didn’t know what was happening to me or how i was going to get out of it… I tried telling myself to wake up or try moving a part of my body, which didn’t seem to work. I eventually snapped out of it and told myself WTF just happened? I was very frightened about the whole incident, but i seriously cant describe the feeling because when i awoke from it my brain seemed to have registered it as if it were normal and it never happened, but i know what the f&*( happened and its not right.

I should note it happened twice. Second time was in the same situation but i was thinking about what happened to me and i fell into the coma/locked in feeling.
Can any help me? Im afraid to go to sleep.

It’s called sleep paralysis. It can be very scary and people sometimes think it’s some kind of alien abduction (dont worry its not! lol). It’s actually very similar to what is called ‘locked-in’ syndrome. (Try a Google search or Wikipedia)

From a personal experience, I find it happens when I’m really tired but listening to a background noise (like music or the sound of a fan). I become completely paralysed and can’t even open my eyes no matter how hard i try. I find the only thing a I can control when it happens is my breathing, and typically I find the best way to wake up is by trying to breathe really fast.

I really thought i was going through my near death experience again.
Can you die from this?

That same thing happened to me a long time ago also. It has to do with alot of whats going on in your life because it’s your body shutting down to deal with something, like not getting enough sleep, stress, something. It is just your body not being fully awake it is normal but scary but just try to find that something that brings you out. Yelling, moving your leg/arm, whatever its your body not all there.

Oh no don’t worry it’s actually very common. It’s not a disease or illness (unless it’s really stressing you out). I have never heard of anyone dying from it.

I think your neurologist might direct you to a sleep analysis center possibly but maybe they wont.

I once talked to these twin girls that both had the same thing as you

I’ve had this before it was very creepy. I was awake and I was blinking, normal at first but each time I blinked my eyes opened less. soon I knew they wouldn’t open again and i’d be asleep. I couldn’t control it. I tried to get up, couldn’t. I thought if I screamed then it may help myself “wake up” abit like an alarm clock does. however I couldn’t and said a very faint whisper “hello”. I then heard my whisper being repeated back to me. don’t know if it was my immagination or a true responce. but that is what helped me move again. very scary. however I think it is just that your body has not caught up with what it needs and what you want it to do. It’s not detrimental, just scary. happens during nightmares sometimes too, when you know you are dreaming but cannot wake up.
