The End is Now…

or later, who knows?

For some reason, all over the History Channel here lately they have been showing things about the apocolypse–theories, the revelation, possible threats, even the idea of the Mayan Calendar.

When speaking with my father about this, he responded with a story about my grandmother. When she was a little girl, she and her father-my great grandfather-were driving through West Virginia, passing all of these people with loudspeakers yelling about how the end of the world was near. Understandably, she was petrified — and began questioning her father. In response to this, he said:
“It’s the end of the world for someone every day.”

The end of the world is well, destined to happen eventually. However, it seems that it’s been slightly exaggerated here lately. Blatantly, there are threats to our world and our society — but many of these threats have ALWAYS existed.

The apocalypse is looked at with extreme paranoia often times. This is not meant to offend anyone, so please don’t read this the wrong way — however, a lot of these fears are generated from foretellings of the Revelation. Like any type of prediction, people look for things to fit these descriptions so that it seems true. Why?

We all want to know the future, right?

Exactly. If people were concerned that the end of the world was coming hundreds of years ago as they were thirty years ago or now, chances are a lot of this is just sheer paranoia. There are several examples that could fit a prophecy throughout history. For example, as far as a pandemic goes — couldn’t the bubonic plague been a prominent concern for the end of the world for people of that time? And the pandemic of 1918? Precisely.

I’m not discrediting all of these theories, because truthfully as scary as it may be to realize - some of them are possible. However, this complete exaggeration of the destruction of the world is getting somewhat annoying.

I mean really people we are better then this.

Great post and very true… Numerous people have predicted the end of the world and none of them have been right although each one has had plenty of people believe them…

People should enjoy their life & not worry about when the end of the world will be… for each of us one day will be the end….
