I just listened to the song. Actually, it is a beautiful song. What I kept thinking is that reaching your our potential is what we all strive to do. If we are only half what we expect to be, then we just need to keep taking steps to reach our goal. I say that knowing full well that when you are young, you feel that everything has to be accomplished right away. Give your self a break. Take small steps, but keep moving toward your goal. Don’t let anything rob you of your dreams. If you make a mistake, just learn from it and keep moving.

I am glad that you can write what is in your heart and on your mind. That is a wonderful quality. So many people are too closed for that kind of openess.
I am old, so I have an older person’s perspective on life. However, I do remember well how I felt when I was young. I don’t mean to lecture you, just help you, if I can. I care.

I like the avatar, too. What I love to do is layer beautiful pieces of glass and melt them in a kiln. I love to open a kiln and see how the different colores were transformed as they melted together. Someday, I will learn how to photograph my work and put the images online. BTW, I did not melt my first piece of glass until I was more than 50 years old. I never even thought about it when I was young and now I can’t imagine not doing it.

Oh, you sound like a future art glass person, all right. A kiln is an oven that can heat a object up to a very high temperature. When I fuse glass, I take mine up to more than 1480 degrees Fahrenheit.

You may be thinking of what is known as lampwork. I don’t know why they call it that because it is really done with a torch. There is also, off-hand glass blowing, which is done with molten glass taken from a type of kiln, on the end of a long, metal pipe. Air is blown through the pipe to expand the molten glass into a desired shape. There are artists doing this all over the world. There is probably a school or an art glass supply store near you where you can see it done. Also, there are many websites devoted to art glass.

Corning, New York has a wonderful museum of glass. If you ever get near there, you should go see all the ways artists have formed glass into beautiful objects. All of the techniques require lots of heat. I watch glass blowers work all the time at the community college. They are the rock stars in the world of art glass and some of them are right out of high school.
