Please somebody help me.
Looking for any advice or suggestions you can give.
Im a young woman with a toddler and have found myself in a situation I dont seem to be able to find a way out of.
I had a lot of problems before I had my daughter, and was put in temporary accommodation when she was five months old as I had been long term homeless. My problem is that I have now been stuck here for 17 months with no chance of being moved on.
My ex-partner accrued a very large debt on a housing association property I lived in over 6 years ago, which led to my being evicted from the property at the time. Due to this the council will not consider me for re-housing till the debt is cleared. This is a debt of nearly £2000 and I have no reasonable way of clearing it.
I suffer from a serious long term illness which prevents me from working, so have only my benefits to live on. I am looking for ways to either clear this debt so I can be housed by my local authority, or raise the money to put down for somewhere privately rented. This is also problematic as I cant pass a credit check and have no working guarantor, does anyone know a way around this?
Ive been looking into charitable grants to help clear the debt, and am waiting to hear back about these. I found the charity information on turn2us, does anyone know of other sites with this sort of information? I do not want to go down the route of begging for money online.
Or, much as I dont suppose its likely, does anyone know someone who rents property to people using the local authority rent desposit scheme, and would accept housing benefit. Im desperate to move to the Southend area of Essex so I can be near my daughters Dad.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I seem to have exhausted all options and could do with some fresh thinking. I am desperate for me and my little girl to be out of this place. We are surrounded by junkies, and all sorts of trouble. Even if you cant help, thanks for taking the time to try.
