Nervous help: Right, i’m nervous about an EMPA we have to do in Biology. - Help.com

Right, i’m nervous about an EMPA we have to do in Biology.

Has anyone ever had to do an EMPA? If you’ve done one before, what was like? What did you have to do? How did you find it, easy/difficult? If someone else was going to do one, what would you advise them to do? what advice would you give them? I’m pretty nervous, if you know any good sites with past papers and or anything that might be able to help me, please let me know.

Even if you just had to do an EMPA at GCSE level, advice with it would be great. at the moment I’m doing A level so if you’ve done it in A level that would be good. I know that you dont only do them in Biology though, so any advice and anything about it would be great, even if it is from a different subject like chemistry. it might make me feel better.

thank you to anyone who helps me in advance aswell.

no thats fine, I didn’t what one was until a short while ago either.

It is where we are presented with a problem of something we have to do an experiment on. but we have to use our knowledge and what is placed in front of us to create our own experiment and conduct it. then we’ll have to write about it. and be given questions relating to the work.

Okay… Yep I understand.. I have no past experience of this sort of thing, though I would quote

‘Chance favours the well prepared’ Stanislavski I think… or perhaps chekov. Cant remember.

If you do the research and build on the knowledge you already have then no problem should be to hard to handle…

Dont know if that helps.. probably not. But I do wish you the best of luck :-)

Perhaps you just need to relax. I know when I was doing my A-Levels I just took them as they came. You can always do resits. is this A2 or AS

no don’t worry, its ok :) thank you trying to help me out, it’s still appriciated.
this is AS level. I dont know if you can resit an EMPA though. I would feel better if I knew I could if things didn’t go well though.

do you know how to work our the standard deviation by any chance? I learnt it in school, but now I can’t remember how to work it out or even what it means.

jetmoo, I’m a few decades removed from test taking. I presume your reference to “A Level” means you’re in the UK/Europe, adding another layer of unknown for me.

Perhaps if you read through this forum you’ll find something helpful, or consider posting a more specific query there than the very general request for help you posted here? -

Good luck.

I wonder if it was my reply which got removed. cos I’m sure I said thank you.anyway if I didn’t I know its a bit late, but thank you for trying to help me. I did the EMPA and it was actually my strong point. I got an A 50/60 marks so I was kinda chuffed :) I now realise that’s it’s nothing to worry about.
