I am SICK of love songs. - Help.com

I am SICK of love songs.

Seriously. There are so may of them. They’re stupid, overrated, and pointless. Recently, there have also been a lot of teen pop stars singing love songs, which is weird, because I doubt that they, as teens, have experienced real love. Now, here are some responses to this that whiny people are bound to type:

Common response #1: “If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it.”

I don’t go *looking* for love songs, you idiots. They happen to be everywhere. The TV, the radio, even the stores - they ALL play love songs 24/7. It’s really annoying. Stop it!

Common response #2: “Why do you hate love so much?”

I don’t. I think it’s a great emotion. But it’s being ruined - so many artists give a cliched, overused, fantasy-esque description of the feeling that it has lost its meaning. Love should be a prized personal treasure - instead, you have the media controlling it with pop music and Valentine’s day.

Common response #3: “They’re just expressing their feelings.”

OK. Fine. Imagine that a guy (let’s call him Phil) has a great girlfriend. Phil is happy. His GF is happy as well. La-di da. Now, if Phil REALLY want’s to express his feelings, why can’t he sing a song to *her*? Why does he assume that I give a flying #@$% about *his* GF? What do I care if she kisses your cheek when you’re sad? What does it matter to me that breaking up was hard? IT DOESN’T. Phil, no reasonable boy or girl cares. If you want to make a good song, sing about HOW TO ask a girl out successfully. Then we all benefit.

Common response #4: “You’re just jealous.”

Jealous of what? Being a sellout and corporate prostitute? Selling your soul to the media? No, I don’t think so. And I’m definitely not jealous of your stupid lyrics and silly views of life. I’m only angry that so many idiots are buying into this stuff.

***

So that’s that. I needed to make this rant, mostly because I hear people listening to this doodoo all of the time. Stop it. Listen to more meaningful music that has a real lesson. Thank you.

Holy. Not all love songs are bad - just the pop ones. And pop music mostly does just su **** by nature. But pop music is catchy - that’s why people like it. It makes you feel happy the the rhythm is simple and gets your energy going. Not everyone is a music person, so they dont care that this song doesnt have a big lesson or meaning. just like how people happily eat up all the Seth Rogan movies they have been pumping out once a month for the past year.

And the mass majority are not “idiots” because they listen to pop music. That’s ignorant. People are many things, sometimes those things are disappointing (to you), yes, but this is quite the angry judgment your making.

I believe that to make a generic song, you have to have a generic theme - and which one is eassiest to sing about and appeals to most people? I hope you get my point.

No, they’re idiots. Or at least suck-ups. All pop music sounds about the same. and it has no meaning.

Oh god… you sound like you’ve just been introduced to the idea of pop culture… Once again, you sound like you are a conusure of music - a lot of people think its a waste of time. Dont get me wrong, I dont like these songs anymore than you do, but you’re being so….naive.

And how does it mean that people dont try because they dont want to listen to Sufjan Stevens and Pink Floyyd?

Because people just want something easy to listen so they don’t have to think, or experience music in the real sense. Say, no-one goes out to a club to listen to something really deep or philosophical… It’s not the music makers, it’s the consumers.

My problem is not so much the fact that people listen to them as much as people are just stupid. If you believe that it holds a special meaning inside your heart ad it benefits you, go ahead! But if you’ve never experienced love and are buying into this…

Some people dont CARE about listening to something with a special meaning that ignites something in your heart. Not everyone is a self aware budding artist with philosophical questions who’s currently enduring an existential battle.

It doesn’t make them stupid, it just makes them different.

If you wanna complain about something, complain about how people eat up and regurgitate everything they here and lack the ability to think outside the box and think for themselves.

Like bottled water - WHY are you paying for WATER?! Nobody made it, how can they charge us for it? More importantly, WHY DO PEOPLE BUY IT???

I really don’t care if it’s a love song or not, if it’s good, I’ll listen to it. Unfortunatelly, a most love songs suck. xD
But I do think there are so many songs because love is something you get more creative milage out of. Wuhzzat ? Well, when writing a song, because music Is emotional rather we like it or not, we like the words to expess some sort of feeling. Sure, we could write about war, famine, plague or the sucky government, and we do, but the thing we seem to write about the most is love because it is something that is good at inspiring lyrics. Even on help.com, not 5 minutes go by with somone not posting anything about love.

As for the teen popstars, that’s all just commercial. However, just like I said, if it’s good I’ll listen to it. Which is why I never do. xD

love songs are SO overrated. did you know that country songs are the number one cause of suicide in the usa? mostly cuz they’re about love songs. every time a cowboy gets a girl he feels the need to make a song out of it and it’s pathetic! i’ve seen a lot of talent shows and anymore about half the “talents” are just people singing. love songs suck. period.

I think that some love songs are REALLY good, but yeah, most of ‘em are crappy, sappy, bs. It’s hard to find the good ones, but they’re definitely not sung by teens…ew who even wants to listen to crappy teen singers o_O
