girl help: Nothing seems to be working. - Help.com

Nothing seems to be working.

A few weeks ago I posted something about my girlfriend’s house burning down. I have tried so hard to make her happy using peoples’ advice but it wasn’t possible. She just cries all day. It’s so sad. She’s 14 years old. She has lived there her whole life. She couldn’t stand to see everything she owned go up in flames. Will she ever be happy again?

Losing everything to a fire is devastating for a teenage girl. Stuff like that always takes some time to get over.

She will. All that you can do is be there to support her. A lot of times, at least, I’ve found, all a person really NEEDS is another person. It may be months before she is smiling on a normal basis again. Have faith. Help her where you can. Let her know that you think about her– (A teddy bear and a pair of shoes made my wife snort and then laugh when our house burned down) and that things could be horribly worse. Just don’t… DON’T give up on her. No matter how mad or disgruntled she may get with you.
