I had sex for the first time at 20. This is pretty late but it was when I felt emotionally ready to handle it. That is when you should have sex. When you feel like you are capable of talking about it, enjoying it and won’t regret it later. For a lot of women that maybe in their teens but I have a lot of trouble believing that if you have sex when you are 13 you are ready. At least wait until 16. Make sure you are comfortable using some form of birth control first and you should always make sure that you can talk to the boy about birth control. If you can’t talk to him about it you shouldn’t be having it. Being too embarrassed to talk about sex means you are not ready to have sex yet.

Please help me with these serious questions….
Hi, I’m thirteen years old (girl)

I really have this serious problem; I don’t know when I should start having sex..
I know it’s a really commonly asked question, but I REALLY need help, and I couldn’t ask my mom, seeing she probably will say the appropriate age for me to have sex would be when I am forty years old T^T
I thought the normal age for sex would be about 16-17 years old, but after searching in websites and forums, or many people said they had sex when they were 11(I’m not sure they were serious when they said that…) or 12 to 13 years old. I haven’t had my period yet and at first I thought your hymen broke when you had your period, but then I read that you break it when you have sex or go biking or horse back riding, etc, but I don’t think mine broke yet…

Oh, yea they say it hurts when your hymen breaks..and I’m really scared about that too…. Some people say they don’t feel any pain and some people said they almost passed out from the pain so I’m barely sure what the truth is…

I am in 8th grade now, I’m not even in high school yet but I checked and the age of consent is 13 here…
It’s not like I want to have sex now or anything it’s just that I’m not sure when I should have it…
Plus I’m really scared about the hymen thing.. serious…..

I had a boyfriend in seventh grade but we broke up after two months without any first or second base advancements, so I don’t know about what he thought either…
Can anyone who has any experience please please tell me, even in YOUR opinion what you think is the true age you should have and is ready for sex (not the LEGAL age of consent,but the age you are mentally prepared for it), please don’t make any jokes or make things up because I’m pretty serious and reallly worried ..
I was first thinking of posting this anonymously, but I realize it’s better just to reveal who I am…
