Help with Windows XP Pro install.

After it initially installs windows and restarts it shuts off. I know that I need ACPI Multiprocessor PC as the Halmacpi.dll file that I need to install but windows refuses to function with anything other than ACPI PC which is just a standard Hal.dll and thus only one of the four processing cores will be recognized in the task manager and thus only one will be used. Please help.
