take a metal strainer, a working cellphone, some tape, and tinfoil. ‘kay, so you line the strainer with the foil. then you put tape over the mouth of the strainer and stick the phone to it. Put the whole contraption outside a window on the same floor as the device you’re trying to pick up the wifi with and you’ll get crazy signals, man. I’ve used this and many other methods with good results

Its easier to make a reflector out of cardboard and foil.
