The symptoms of swine flu are the same as regular flu, so if you do suffer from any symptoms of the flu it is best to get checked out by a doctor as a precaution, the earlier swine flu is diagnosed the more effective treatment is for it.

The best thing you can do is increase your personal hygiene, wash you hands regularly and if you can carry with you a bottle of antibacterial hand wash.

Well better to be safe;) plus it also reduces the chance of others around you getting ill if you can prevent it which is all good.

The worst thing any population can do in the event of a viral outbreak or pandemic is to panic. Panic makes it much harder to keep the population in check and within any containment zone set up (worst case scenario) panic will also help the virus to spread faster.

In the event of a viral outbreak in your state it is important to remain calm, stay indoors and limit contact with other people, avoid large crowds and areas such as public restrooms. If you must go out take with you a dust mask or a surgical mask rubber gloves and or antibacterial hand wash (can be found at any local pharmacy or drug store)

Im not saying you are lol. jut that is your basic guide to survive a pandemic.
Go get some of the hand wash and just limit your exposure to other people. do a little bit extra shopping just in case too ^^ its better to be safe than sorry, I d think however this will fizzle out in a months time.

If you’re scared, go get checked out by your doctor. Then you’ll know for sure that you don’t have it.

its not odd, swine flu has the same symptoms as the regular flu, if your feeling ok now then you would have just had the regular flu. if you feel ill like that again go see a doctor.

Ok well not be rude but thats really dumb. This flu is very dangerous and should be handled with much care. THe reason its all over the news is becuase people need to be aware of it and what it can do and how to prevent it. The news isnt just to let everyone know the weather and good things going on in the world. Its NEWS! About EVERYTHING!!! And if theres something (flu or NOT) then the entire USA should know about it! OHHHH MYYYY GAAAAWWWWD!

Thing is Dani the regular flu doesn’t have as high a death rate as swine flu does. That is the reason for all the kerfuffle.

i know willard… i’m just look at this as another flu season…

the 1 person that died in usa was from mexico so that doesn’t count, the baby also had a pre existing illness, which is one of the reason’s why you die from flu… your more vulnerable to it if your already sick…swine flu, flu its all the flu, the symtom’s for both are near alike they say.

no but the ratio is much higher. If the same amount of people caught swine flu as regular flu then you would see a staggeringly larger proportion of swine flu related deaths, possibly reaching into the millions.

not quite, You’d need to chop off up to 2 billion from the worlds population to keep the planet self sufficient…

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swine_in…

Prevention of spread in humans
Recommendations to prevent spread of the virus among humans include using standard infection control against influenza. This includes frequent washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after being out in public.[26] Vaccines against the H1N1 strain in the 2009 human outbreak are being developed and could be ready as early as June 2009.[27]

Experts agree that hand-washing can help prevent viral infections, a surprisingly effective way to prevent all sorts of diseases, including ordinary influenza and the new swine flu virus. Influenza can spread in coughs or sneezes, but an increasing body of evidence shows little particles of virus can linger on tabletops, telephones and other surfaces and be transferred via the fingers to the mouth, nose or eyes. Alcohol-based gel or foam hand sanitizers work well to destroy viruses and bacteria. Anyone with flu-like symptoms such as a sudden fever, cough or muscle aches should stay away from work or public transportation and should see a doctor to be tested.

Social distancing is another tactic. It means staying away from other people who might be infected and can include avoiding large gatherings, spreading out a little at work, or perhaps staying home and lying low if an infection is spreading in a community.
——
So I’m basically understanding this to mean:
~ stay away from public places (restaurants, concerts, buses, libraries, and grocery stores included)
~but if you must go, wash afterwards and don’t be near sick people.
~Hospitals are different, bc you need to get checked out if you are really sick, but ask for a mask. It might cost a few cents, but it will be worth it.

I’m not THAT worried yet, but I am on the look out. There were two people in my daughter’s school that recently got back from Mexico. She is 8. When she gets sick, it’s pretty bad. She usually misses school for a week at a time. Her lungs are bad anyway, though we don’t know why (nobody that is involved with our family smokes.) If she got that flu., I don’t think that she’d make it.
