sleep help: I always have such a hard time waking up in the mornings! - Help.com

I always have such a hard time waking up in the mornings!

It’s ridiculous, I am 19, I am very active, I eat healthy and no matter how much sleep I get, when my alarm goes off in the morning, I feel like I’ve barely slept at all. I always get 8 to 9 hours of sleep per night (usually get to sleep around midnight, up around 8 or 9) and I rarely have trouble getting to sleep. After about 1/2 an hour of being awake, I am fine. It’s just so very annoying :( I start a new job Monday which means changing my sleep schedule (11pm to 7am). And I just wish I knew what I could do differently so that waking up every morning won’t seem like torture.

Umm, well how is your disposition? I mean, are you sad or down as of late?

I felt like this a couple months ago. I was so tired all the time no matter how much coffee I drank or much I slept.

I think it was because I was uninterested in everything around me and it just sucked my energy right out, from the start of each day.

Hmmm….thats odd. When I felt like that it was because I was uninterested in everything. It just sucks the energy right out of you.

You need to find out what is sucking out all your energy.

I thought sleep apnea was something that people who either snore or are obese are at risk for? I am neither.

Not anymore. I used to because I find I get SO hungry in the evenings, but I thought it might be affecting my sleep so I have stopped eating 4 hours before bed for the last month or so.

i would check. i had a really hard time doing anything in the morning and i found that i can no longer eat anything before 11. If i were you i would be asking some questions. Mornings are hard but if you are healthy and take care of yourself maybe there is another reason. It doesn’t hurt to check.

I too have the same problem, I want to wake up at 6 am every morning but I usually snooze. Sometimes Ill sleep for 12 hours if I let myself. Maybe the issue is just will power. Can you get out of bed, and be active for a few minutes to clear up the sleepiness? I have a crumby time getting out of bed and as a result I usually create weird sleeping patterns.
