How does music affect your heart rate?
OHKAY OHKAY OHKAY.
Whell. (:
That’s my title for my Science Fair Project.
& I need help with it.
Blood Pressure Monitors also measure your heart rate, right?
I need help with my “control” and “variable”.
This is what I have.
Control: People
Variable: Music
I’m having them listen to a lot of different genre of music and measuring their heart rate before and after and recording it.

Lol.
Whell, if you have a heart rate / blood pressure monitor, then go for it.
(:
Before and after you listen to the music.
1. Eyes Set To Kill - Darling (Screamo)
2. Seether - Breakdown (Alternative)
3. East Clubbers - A Walk In Paradise (Techno)
4. Hellogoodbye - Here In Your Arms (Pop)
5. Static X - The Only (Metal)
6. Rise Against - Prayer Of The Refugee (Rock)
There’s my list.

Thanks. (:
I checked a few of those out.
but now, I’m thinking.
O_O
I take their rate before I have them listen to the music. Right?
Do I take it WHILE they are listening to the music?
Because, having those few seconds of time to get the thing on them..
Those seconds would be used to have the rate return to normal.

I would think if you listen to hard rock it would increase your heart rate because of your body movement, if you listen to soft music, you will be calm and relaxed therefore decreasing your heart rate. So in conclusion, how ever the music effects your brain will there fore have an affect on your heart.

Hmmm.
I’ll see. ^^
But, do I measure their heart rate WHILE they listen to the music?
^(states better question about your post)^
yes
heres how it would be set up
youd allready have them in the bp cup. take a reading before starting the music
then take the reading again during the song being sure to give each song the same ammount of exposure time. 1 and a half minutes or so of each genere. (Im curious as to why theres no rap music on your list. I for one would be interested to see the result of all generes.)

Ohkay. Thanks. (:
Baha, I must have forgotten that one.
I never listen to any rap so. ^^;
To late now.
I already ripped off my first list off my posterboard and messed it up a bit.
So, I made a new list of a few different artists, and glue it back on over “the ugly” Bahah.
I dont know how involved you want this to be, but you might want to consider takeing a seperate reading a couple minutes after listening to the music too.. just to further Identify the source of heart rate variation.

This is what you do: Take their blood pressure at rest, sitting in a chair. Use the same arm when measuring blood pressure because you will get a different pressure from each arm. So, once you have the resting heart rate, start the music and have the person listen to it and take their BP half way through the song and take it again at the end. Therefore you will have 3 sets of blood pressure, the resting, during the song and at the end. Do this with three of your friends and with different types of music: soft music, dance music, and hard rock or another kind that will get their heart rate rocking. Good Luck and have fun.
