Computers help: Sony Vaio laptop shows no signs of life. - Help.com

Sony Vaio laptop shows no signs of life.

I hope someone can help me with this before I resort to sending my laptop back to Sony to be serviced. I have a Sony Vaio laptop that was just a little over a year old. While operating the computer one day the computer just shut off for no apparent reason. I tried to turn it back on with no luck. I unplugged the power adapter from the computer and I tried a different power outlet with the same results. The power adapter shows that it’s receiving power but the laptop itself shows no signs of life. Hopefully someone will have the answer I’m looking for instead of “it’s my motherboard or CPU that’s taken a dump”. If it is one of those two things is it still possible that my hard drive is unscathed? If I can’t save anything on my computer I’d just rather start over again. Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this subject.
