Well, The most healthy way to fix sleepless nights is to work out intesely in the middle of the day. Ten miles on a bike through town. perhaps some crunches? (I hate crunches lol) Swimming maybe? something you enjoy but wears you the EFF out. Bike riding it the most fulfilling to me. that and rock climbing/boludering.
or you could be a normal human being and just go for a jog. hahah.
also, when turning to sleep medication, be SOOO careful, even if it says non-habit forming, it can become near impossible to sleep without the drugs if you overuse. If you must use an Over the counter sleep aid, I recomend the lowest dose of melatonin you can find one hour before bed and make sure all lights and sounds are off. also Valerian root is natural and leaves me less drowsy the next day than melatonin does, But please Read up on proper doses first on credible websites.
Sleep TIght! i’m off to bed
insomnia’s a pain. just force yourself to stay up a full 24 hours, fight through the fatigue for a day, and then try to sleep at a normal time. set an alarm for the next morning after a reasonable time, and get up to it. like, try to go to sleep around 10, and set the alarm for 8, you’ll have plenty of sleep, and you should get back on a normal schedule.
and don’t go for sleep aid drugs, I have a friend that used to be really dependant, and I had to coerce her to stop using them. after she started sleeping regularly again, she told me how much better sleep was.
I agree wholeheartedly. I was just posting those two because if you were going to use something, it should be natural.
Regulus is completely right though. If you can tough it out without em, Its way better in the long run. and the sleep is defiantly better.
one more really obvious tip is to have as little stimulus as possible, such as lights coming from a window or from under you door or even the lights on your alarm clock or Idle PC. or sounds like a T.V. Its proven that even soothing music can keep you from getting that Precious R.E.M Sleep.
There’s my humble two bits.
And good Post Regulus!

i tried… works for about three days then its back to “normal” …
wow, I’m surprised. it takes some doing to try to stay on that cycle though. try working out in the evening, really hard. not only will you be physically tired, but you’ll be healthier as well. it’s my most recent fix.
i have insomnia what helps me is that, if i get tired at night, i dont think to myself “ill just do _______ first” cause it will keep you up, the other things that helped me in the past are not using my bed for anything but sleeping, if u watch tv, do work, go on the computer, in bed your mind associates the bed not with sleep but rather with those actions, and lastly try just not resting during the day, then just try and sleep at night, if u cant just lay in bed the whole night, its rough but it may be worth it if u feel better with a human sleep schedule. Not being able to sleep at night is jsut another one of your body’s clocks, it takes repitition to change it
