Gender assignment is rather ambiguously defined socially but is deeply ingrained in modern society. For example, there are only two boxes on every single personal form you ever have to fill out: Male or Female. What about a box for Transgendered or Intersexual people.

Fundamentally though it comes down to whether or not the Y-Chromosone is present (wehich defines a Male) or whether it is absent (two XX for a Female).

Well because it can be a pain when you mistake one gender for another o_O you could get punched in the face or something. lol But seriously would you want everyone to be a “shim”, “em”, “herm”, “goy”, “it”? Gender is fun to have and when it gets blended a lot too often then it becomes a boring world of gray. Some gray is good but too much gets boring. Who wants to be an asexual amoeba anyways? :p

Androgynous guys and girls can sometimes look pretty cool though.
