A teenager told me they hoped they were as cool as me when they are old.

Is this a compliment?

Depends on if you like being “cool” or not.

Is it because you didn’t like being referred to as ‘old’? For a teenager I think anything over 35 is old

Yes, treasure it. The little angels can be so critical at times.

Lol, then I am old!

I was flattered, then went off and thought about it and got paranoid.

“Old” is all a matter of perception. What a teenager perceives as old a young adult might not. Age is more how you act than the number.

I remember being a teenager. My guy friend and I made a pact. It went like this:
“When we are old, and like 30, if neither of us are married or have kids, let’s get married.”

so yeah, my thoughts on being old was thirty. By that definition, I am old now….and not married, LOL.

It was DEFINATELY a compliment! don’t overthink things! Be happy with COOL, I hope that I am cool.

Yes it sounds like a pretty nice compliment. Even thought you are older (or from the sounds of it you are) that doesnt mean you have to take offense to saying it. Thats like if someone said you were beutiful and you thought they were calling you and ugly dogg… lol! You just need to face the fact that you are older then you were before (which is normal! hello) and exceot this very nice compliment. I hope i can be cool when im older!
