Chicken Pox is a human virus, Avian Pox is the something that chickens can actually suffer from.

The two are not transferable, but there is a strain of Chicken pox (the human kind) that certain breeds of chickens can be the carrier for.

Among breeds of Chicken is one called the Jersey Giant. The meat of this bird is not thought highly of, and this breed is actually used most often for fast food, and as a bulk filler in many so called mystery meats, such as hot dogs and spam.

***BEWARE, THIS COULD AFFECT MANY PEOPLE*****

Recently there have been concerns of an outbreak of Chicken pox, in the upper part of New Jersey, and surrounding areas. This particular strain of chicken pox is different in two ways. One, even if you have had chicken pox before, you can still acquire this strain, as it is slightly different genetically.
Second, it is a much more serious condition. Chicken pox can always be deadly, depending on the person and the situation, but what is now being called “Jersey Giant Chicken Pox”, while comical sounding, is insidious.

The first symptoms are ****fatigue, slightly upset stomach and a slight swelling of the extremities.****

Left untreated, Jersey Giant Pox can in fact kill, and anyone even suspecting that they have been exposed should seek doctors advice, according to the CDC.

While no efforts have been made to pull food product made with Jersey Giant off shelves and out of restaurants, people are advised to check for any funny smell or taste, anything unusual about food from a fast food place that involves “chicken” as an ingredient, and to generally avoid mystery meats for now.

I am sure this will not turn into anything big, even though the Jersey Giant is used all over the US. Just an FYI. we are so worried about this Swine Flu, but we need to remember it is not the only health hazard out there.

theres really no reason to worry about the swine flu. the only people who are in serious threat of death from it are the very old, very young, or those with otherwise compromised immune systems. This should be no different. You feel sick, go see the doctor and get the necessary meds.
