I need help with this badly.

Ok, when my dad got ill then died I started pulling strands of hair out of my head leaving quite a big bald patch, it’s started growing back now, and its getting there, but its still quite short, it does blend in, but I still put LOADS of hairspray on on a morning to stop the wind blowing it or whatnot, I really need to get to the hairdressers but I’m scared of what they will say, I generally hate going to the hairdressers anyway but they did my hair really good last time, I did have a bit of a bald patch then the hairdresser didn’t really say anything, but my mam doesn’t know that I’m pulling strands of hair out, she think’s it’s to do with stress and stuff, and I’m not planning on telling her, but I’m scared to go to the hairdressers because of the fact that I have that hair growing back and I’m not quite over the hair pulling thing yet, I’m trying, but if any of you do the same you will know what it is like to try and stop, I just don’t know what to do, I want to go to the hairdressers but since I started this it’s made me self concious…a lot, what can I do???

well r you going to the hairdressers alone? if u r, tell her whats happend, she will understand. if your going with your mum, ask to talk to her hair dresser alone then tell her. hairdressers job is to make ur hair look gd there would be no point in going if she didnt kno

The hairdresser will be able to help you, as said above, it is their job and they’re not going to judge you for it!

And telling your mum and talking about things might help you out, possibly even get closer to stopping it :)

a girl in my year started to pull her hair out, she used to have this amazing hair down to her waist. when she went to the hairdressers they cut it short and spiky at the back so you could hardly see the tufts that she had pulled out. she now has really nice hair.

for the record, i think you need to tell someone about whats happening and why your doing it - i used to self-harm and when my mum confronted me about it i told her what was happening and it felt better and healthier that way.
