health help: I’m fat and I don’t know what to do about it. - Help.com

I’m fat and I don’t know what to do about it.

It happened seemingly overnight. My metabolism quit working, and I got fat. I’ve been like this for a few years now, but it’s getting worse, and I don’t know what to do about it. I’ve tried every exercise imaginable, but nothing seems to work.

The worst thing is that because of my once-high metabolism, I can’t seem to quit eating as much as I used to. I still love eating Taco Bell and drinking soda, only now it’s actually doing something to my body. And of course, being 23, I’m out most nights having beers with my friends.

I feel so ugly and hopeless. My clothes don’t fit anymore, I feel my body jiggle whenever I move, I’m tired more than usual.

What can I do? How do I stop eating so much? How do I motivate myself to exercise? Should I just liposuction?

I feel trapped. Somebody please help.

Okay, but HOW? I’m practically ADDICTED to this stuff. I mean, I don’t eat fast food all the time (frankly I find it disgusting), but I’ve been eating like this for the past 23 YEARS OF MY LIFE. How on Earth am I supposed to just turn around and change what I’m eating?

If I seem frustrated, it’s because I am. This fatness is pissing me off.

Find something similar but healthier. Like green apples taste really good and are sweet.

I can’t do that. I hate myself like this. I hate being fat. I can’t even look at myself in a mirror anymore. I find myself disgusting, but I don’t know how to change.

listen just because your fat doesnt mean you dont deserve happiness. its terrible that you cant love yourself for who you are.i bet you would love others the way they are wouldnt you? treat yourself the way you treat others.
remember this is a temporary thing…the more you exercise and get busy the faster the weight will come off. the more you worry and hate yourself the more health issues you will hv.i bet you started gaining weight when you had issues. you cnt go down the same path..free your heart

U can still eat the taco bell and drink the soda but once a week. A really good idea is to drink water when you think your hungry/ It wipes away the hunger and the thought of replacing the food with water once you do it will make you feel 10 times better. Gradually you’ll see your self loose weight and your skin will be a lot better and you’ll have so much more energy. TRY IT!!!

Thing is, I do only eat Taco Bell once a week.

you asked for it.EAT LESS MOVE AROUND MORE pack your lunches put a one week stop to any food you dont make drink lots of water and move around

Why would you think I’d get pissed for that? It makes sense. But it’s the HOW part that I’m having trouble with.

FFS, people, learn to read a post.

Realistically once every two weeks would be bad for someone with a weight problem but I understand that this suggestion to go without for as long as probably may be too much to ask so stick to once every 2 weeks and the water idea I suggested and you should get some positive results.

Carrots help us see much better in the dark
Don’t talk to girls; they’ll break your heart
And this is my head and this is my spout
*But* they work together; they can’t figure anything out

Don’t try a diet, they never work. Try to make an appointment with a nutritionist. If you can’t afford one, go to the department of public health (there should be one in every state) and request they help with your weight loss.

Losing weight and keeping it off when your metabolism is teh suck seems impossible. Don’t expect mad results after the first 15 lbs go away. A good pace to be at is 1/2 to 1 lb of weight a week, if you are aiming to lose weight the healthy way.

If I could afford it, I’d attempt the weight watchers way, but I can’t afford to pay for meal supplements. =,= My friend lost over 200lbs on weight watchers though… and she looks great.

Good luck! I’m still fighting the obesity monster myself.
