my sisters friend is a danger to herself

this may seem like a rant and a boring story but its not so please can u read this and help me.

my sisters friend is a little anorexic but other than that she is quite pretty but people bully her and have persuaded herself that she is ugly and that she looks like a seagull.
so the other night when she went home her parents were still at work so she got a carving knife and slit all of her knuckles twice and one of her wrists. then yesterday she took the knife into school and showed my sister and her other best friend (coz all three of them are best friends) and told them that it was the knife that she used to cut herself, my sister told me that it still had blood on it, and then my sister and her other best mate got really scared and took the knife off of her and my sisters other best friend put the knife into her pocket and ran up to her form tutor and told her what had happened and showed her the knife. now the girl who cut herself could be getting suspended and my sister and her other friend are worried that there could be something going on at home and are scared that she could do worse coz she talks about wanting to slit her throat.
now everyone thinks that she could be a danger to people around her aswell as herself since she bought the knife into school.
and even though the knife got confiscated her mum still has loads of the same ones.
i really want to help my sister and her friends but i can’t coz i don’t have any advise to give to them
someone please help.

I’ve read your post and that girl really needs serious help. She’s crying for attention.
Horrible thought the school wants to suspend her; they should help her!
I believe your sister and her friends need to listen to that girl, tell her that they are worried and try to convince her getting proffesional help.
Maybe there’s a youth organisation where they can go?

As the school and probably her parents are already aware of the problem i think it will be dealt with as being a serious cry for help… I wouldn’t worry too much… i think the adults will deal with this girl now and that might involve her being detained under the mental health act.
