I’m writing a murder/thriller story and I’m wondering how long the overall story should be (in words).

Any ideas?

Keep it short. (You don’t seem very talented)

ouch

ok if you are making a novel and you are thinking about number of words then you already are dead.

10% of books ever made are published and of those only 10% ever make money.

in other words only 1% of books made ever go anywhere, thus dont bother unless you already have the god gifted talent to write or are very well connected.

but if it is for school, ten pages, ten words per line around, a4 paper by 12pt, 30-40 lines, about 3,500 if you want a VERY short story, about enough for 3/4 of a simple scene
